Today I finished my quilt top. As I was putting in sashing yesterday, I realized that I had not made a baby quilt, just a crib-size quilt that I couldn't bear to part with (and certainly couldn't bear to think of being spit up on). So Baby Greg, my incoming nephew, will get another quilt. I'll design something different for him. I'm kind of regretful of this decision. I've made some pretty intricate baby quilts in the past, but I've never started a quilt for someone else and decided to keep it.

It really is beautiful Lindsay. I can understand why you wouldn't want to part with it. I too cringed every time one of the boys spit up on one of the quilts you made the boys. But, if it means anything it washed up well! The boys love those quilts and enjoy cuddling up with them.
You couldn't "bear" to part with it? Is that a pun? Ha Ha Ha, Quilt Humor!
Just think about keeping the quilt for your own children someday. The boys really do love their quilts and they still look great after many spit-ups.
I just stated my first ever quilt today- nothing as fancy as your beautiful quilt. I'm cutting some of Squidges dresses into squares and making a memory quilt- at least that's what I'm calling it. I'm sure there's another formal quilters name for it.
I also understand now that I see it. It's a little too fancy for a little boy to wear as a cape (better visual than the spitting up). I look forward to seeing what else you come up with. I think this new "lumber jack" direction will turn out nicely.
