OK, moving on.
Since I have no fabric for Dear Jane and my sewing machine is still relaxing at the spa, I have been knitting a lot. Pictured above is the knitting help I have received from the tireless Maggie. Also assisting me in my boredom is the new TiVo! Patrick and I have been TiVo devotees for a while, but we recently upgraded to the model that records in HD and streams Netflix to your television! Exclamation points!
I watched Places in the Heart, Little Women (the 1933 version with Hepburn), and (less proud of this one) Nuns on the Run. Oh, Hagrid, why?
What? Too much non-craftiness? Alright:
Here's the reindeer, still unfinished, that I have been knitting out of Debbie Bliss' Toy Knits. He has ears, somewhere off-camera, but I haven't attached them because I want to do the antlers first and I need my sewing machine to do that. An impasse, you say? Just start another project!
Here's the beginning of my Dead Fish Hat, pattern from Knitty, as modeled by a bed-headed Patrick. This is my first time knitting in the round, so I'm still learning a lot. On the other hand, "knit 4.75 inches" is a much easier instruction that anything you'll find in that Toy Knits book! I kind of dig the lack of counting.

When a kitty relaxes with her back to you, isn't that considered the ultimate compliment?
Seriously... I think it means something like, "You've got my back. Any threat isn't coming from where YOU are, so I'll watch this way."
Although it looks like Maggie's ears are definitely listening to the camera sounds... lol
And the reindeer looks great! Will he/she have a tail? Button eyes? Brown ribbon harness with teeny bells?
I can't wait to see the finished fish hat!
Ah, the definitive "Little Women" version. I love it.
The Reindeer is great!!!
Sorry about the non-package arrival. We are all waiting too see your awesome DJ'ness.
The reindeer is awesome, and I'm loving the colors on the fish hat. Along with everyone else, I had great hopes that you would have had your fabric by now.
Your weather there has been crazy. My daughter and SIL in Seattle were iced in for a week over Christmas. They had Christmas after that as it hadn't all arrived!
Like the reindeer...you've got a great start on the hat too. My cat likes to be by me when I am sewing or typing or whatever. She watches me cut too.I think she could quilt if she wasn't so lazy.
That reindeer is large and very well sewn.
I also am looking forward to seeing the fish hat come to life.
We are all holding our breath it seems for you to get your fabric in the mail.
Must be nice to have such a captive audience.
